The Rapuzzi family can be credited with rescuing Schioppettino (aka Ribolla Nera) from the brink of extinction, breathing new life into the Cru “Cialla”, as well as making Natural Wine decades before it became a conversation topic. This wine, made of Pignolo, comes from grapes are sourced from two vineyards: Roncjs; a 2.56 hectare plot with hilly terrain facing south/southeast at an altitude of 165-180m, and Cernetig; .7 hectares of hilly terrain facing south with an altitude of 150-170m. Fermentation in in stainless steel tanks, at controlled temperatures by means of indigenous yeasts and then macerated on the skins for 2 to 3 weeks. Following spontaneous malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barriques for two years, with occasional battonage. The wine is aged for at least an additional six months before release. A deep, purplish colored wine with ruby red reflections. The nose is warm and vinous, with fruity characteristics of blackberry, cherry and raspberry - with a spicy edge. The palate is full-bodied, round, and softly tannic with well-balanced acidity and a very long finish. Pair with roasted red meats.
