Vadiaperti has a winemaking heritage dating to the 40’s. Third-generation winemaker Raffaele Triosi tends the Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, Coda di Volpe and Aglianico vines in the Irpinia area, about 40 miles east of Naples. The stony, volcanic and limestone tufa vineyards lie at 1800-2000 feet elevation and he employs biodynamic techniques. Triosi upholds traditions passed to him by his father – particularly the beief that great wines are made in the vineyard, not the winery. As a science student, Raffaele is not opposed to utilizing modern information, but is firmly committed to only natural farming and winemaking. The Greco grapes are sourced from vineyards in the "Marota" estate in the Montefusco countryside - 600m above sea level. The hand picked grapes are lightly pressed before fermentation. Medium-bodied, with lovely fruit and great acidity, it's a refreshing and textured, with a chaser of ginger and clove notes. Featuring peach and pear, with yellow fruit, apricot and persimmon, a touch of pink grapefruit, and a smoky minerality drawn from the volcanic soils of the area.
