Vincent Paris Cornas "Granit 30" 2013

Nephew of famed Cornas vigneron Robert Michel, Vincent Paris has created his own distinct identity with his potent-yet-restrained approach to his wines. His vineyards are concentrated in Cornas—some of them inherited from his uncle with average vine age of ~90yrs—plus a small plot in St-Joseph. The vineyards are tended with minimal use of insecticides and pesticides, while the vines themselves are severely pruned to reduce the need for green harvesting. In addition to their Cornas and St-Joseph wines, the estate produces one declassified vin de Pays from Syrah.

A gentler, calmer expression of northern Rhone Syrah. Average vine age 30 years, planted to granite slopes at an average elevation of 30 degrees. Pink peppercorns, black granite, iron, black cherries, blue- and blackberry towards the finish. Drink now-2024.
