Founded in 1907, St. Michael-Eppan is one of the finest co-operatives in Alto Adige, Italy. Located in the village of Appiano, the co-operative works with more than 355 growers, all of whom share a commitment to ecological balance and vineyard sustainability. Most of the fruit is harvested from vineyards situated between 1,000 and 1,600 feet in the southern Tyrol in the villages of Appiano, Caldaro and Mazzon. St. Michael-Eppan was one of the first wineries in South Tyrol to introduce barriques into their winery. In 2000, Gambero Rosso and Slow Food wine guide named St. Michael-Eppan as the best Italian winery of the year and its long-time winemaker Hans Terzer as one of the ten best winemakers in the world. Straw yellow with a slight green shimmer. Fruity aroma of pear and apple. Soft, refined and elegant.
