Brack Mountian’s wine making facilities are located in the Russian River Valley, in Sonoma County, CA. It is here that winemaker Daniel Fitzgerald and his small but highly skilled team fulfill the company’s mission of making artisanal, hand-crafted wines that are accessible at every price point. Launched in 2008, Brack Mountain is a family-owned winery that works with small growers around California who are as committed to sustainability as they are. With more than 15 brand releases since their inception, Brack sources fruit from Sonoma County, Napa Valley, Anderson Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands, and other cool coastal regions. To create wines with a sense of provenance, low alcohol, and bright acidity, the wine making team practices low intervention techniques like native yeast fermentation (both primary and malolactic), with no crushing, pumping, fining, or filtering. The Barrique line of wines strives to show unique terroir from different vineyards in Sonoma Co. This Cabernet is sourced from 2 AVAs in Sonoma - Dry Creek Valley and Knight’s Valley. The grapes are destemmed then transferred via gravity to stainless steel fermentation tanks, where they spontaneously ferment and the juice sits in contact with the skin for 21 days. Afterwards, the wine is transferred to French Oak barrels, 33% of which are new, to rest for 18 months. The result is a wine with a full body and dusty tannins that lend a silky mouthfeel. Aromas and flavors include plum, blackberry, and toasted bread.
