Broc Cellars is a urban winery located in Berkeley, California. Winemaker Chris Brockway is acclaimed for his refined wines that show restraint. The fruit is allowed to bare its true soul. Chris Brockway founded Broc Cellars upon the idea of making wines that were “site specific” -- he wanted the wines’ true character to come from using only organically or biodynamically grown grapes from areas that most would consider marginal. In the cellar, he practices minimal intervention in an effort to let the grapes speak for themselves. The grapes come from Eaglepoint Ranch, located at 1,800 ft elevation in the Mayacamas Mountain Range. Planted in 2007 to roughly 4 acres, the soils are typically thin mountain soils but rich in iron. 100% destemmed fruit, fermented in 5-ton open top wood troniques. Aged for 10 months in old 600-1200L German oak casks. A medium-bodied wine with nice acid & white pepper on the finish, with plum, strawberry, raspberry and pepper making appearances as well.
