Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, 2014

Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, 2014

53.00

Chateau Montelena was founded in 1888 and was originally intended to be a barrel-aging facility by founder Alfred Tubbs. With stone walls anywhere from three to twelve feet thick, the Chateau has protection against extreme heat or cold, and ideal conditions to create and age wine. Montelena put the California wine industry on the map in 1976, when a group of experts gathered at the Intercontinental Hotel in Paris to taste the best white Burgundies against new world American wineries. In a blind tasting, the 1973 vintage of Montelena Chardonnay prevailed. This 2014 vintage offers notes of rose petal and lemon blossom, with the creamy creme brulee texture and bracing minerality supporting across the palate.
